I have 'conditionally forwarded' both of my mobile phones to Ribbit - in theory that's great because it means that if I get a call on either phone, it will be routed to the other if I dont answer, plus, any messages I recieve will be accessable from either phone.

However - I am assuming that I will pick up the cost of the forwarded call - so if someone calls my personal mobile, and I don't answer, the call will be forwarded to Ribbit and either put through to my work mobile, or the Ribbit voicemail - in either case, I will now be paying for the forwarded part of the call (either the conversation I have with someone on my work phone, or the message that is left) on my personal mobile bill.  Have I got that right?

If so, I'm not sure I would use this going forward as, currently, I do not have to pay if someone calls my mobile and leaves a voicemail on the standard vodafone voicemail - I understand I'm getting an enhanced service but... not sure I'd be willing to pay for it when what I already have works fine.

Hi Seguima,

You're correct in that with Ribbit you pick up the cost of the forwarded call. For example, if I left you a 3 minute voicemail, 3 minutes would be deducted from your monthly allowance.

You're also correct in that had you been using Vodafone voicemail you would not have been charged for me leaving the message.  However, Vodafone would charge you 3 minutes (from your monthly allowance) to call 121 and listen to the message. Now here's the benefit of Ribbit, you won't need to call to listen to your messages because you can read them instead. If you wanted to listen it’s easy to play the mp3 that was sent to you by email for no cost at all!

So in this example, regardless of whether you used Ribbit or Vodafone Voicemail, you'd use 3 minutes of your monthly allowance.  But with Ribbit you’d have the convenience of being able to read your voicemail.

That is a very good point! Thanks.  I am looking for reasons to love Ribbit because I think it's an absolutely top notch service.  I had almost come to the conclusion that even if there was a cost, it was worth it for the convenience of being able to read the message, now you have pointed out that, in fact, the cost would be the same anyway, it's a "no-brainer"!
