A Day in the Glamorous Life of an Art Director (Scott Thibodeaux)

Thursday, July 1st, 2010 | located in Success Stories | No Comments »

When we think of art directors and creative types, we imagine a life filled with gorgeous models, fabulous coffee, and jetsetting to exotic locations. Then we sat down with Scott Thibodeaux, who has been an art director and graphic designer for years….and he set us straight.

“I absolutely love what I do,” he told us, “but it’s incredibly stressful at times. When I’m in the middle of a big project, I have so much information coming at me. Clients are sending requests, things are changing on the fly… it’s insane.”

Scott explained that creative projects are continually in motion – budgets expand and contract, ideas are discarded and re-invented, and sometimes whole campaigns switch directions mid-stream.

Translation? Scott receives a whole lot of phone calls.

“My phone rings off the hook during a busy photo shoot or an ad campaign,” he says. “I don’t have the luxury of waiting hours or days to check my messages – which often means that I have to excuse myself from the room, check my messages, and return. It’s so annoying.”

Now that he has Ribbit Mobile, Scott gets his voicemail as text messages – no more dialing into voicemail. He can incorporate changes and requests more smoothly to keep a project moving along.

“Time is money,” Scott says, “which is why Ribbit Mobile is so valuable for people in creative services.” Hey, it may not be as exciting as gorgeous models and jetsetting, but we’ll take it.

Hear Scott tell his story:

Lifetime voicemail archive and voice to text from Ribbit Mobile are a contractor’s dream.

Remodeling can be a tough business. Just ask Jeff Weintraub – he’s been a contractor specializing in remodeling for over a decade, and he’s seen it all. A client might have one idea when they first sit down with Jeff, but they might later decide they want something different. Yellow tile instead of white. Bleached pine instead of cherry wood. It’s all part of the process.

Since Jeff is often on noisy job sites throughout the day, he can’t often take phone calls, so his voicemail messages pile up. Many of them contain specific change instructions or requests – which directly affect what he’s going to do the next day. He always dreaded trying to catch up with messages at the end of the day, but now that Ribbit Mobile transcribes all of his messages for him, he can spend that time doing other things.

Even more valuable to Jeff is the fact that he can keep his client messages as long as he wants to. “It someone leaves me a change request, and later forget, or they ask me why I did something a certain way, I can refer back to their voicemail,” he explains. He can forward clients the relevant messages, or they can listen to them together. “Having the archive really helps clear up misunderstandings.”

Jeff saves the messages in his online message inbox, knowing that he can access them at any time, even months later, if questions should ever arise. It’s one less thing this busy contractor has to worry about.

Hear it in Jeff’s own words:

On the Road with Glenn Morroni and Ribbit Mobile

When Glenn Morroni sat down with us to chat about Ribbit Mobile, he gave us some valuable insights about into the sales profession: different sales jobs require varying amounts of time on the road, or in meetings, or face-to-face with clients, but they all have one thing in common: they have to be responsive to client needs in order to be successful.

Glenn is in sales for the packaging industry, and spends a lot of time on the road. He told us that his clients and prospects often leave messages that need to be acted upon – they request a quote, for instance, or ask for more information – and the conversation often goes back and forth. Glenn calls it “voicemail tag.”

He likes Ribbit Mobile because it transcribes his voicemails and sends them to his email inbox. When a voicemail comes in, he can then track down the information requested, create a new email to his client, and attach a copy of the original voicemail. It demonstrates Glenn’s responsiveness and attention to detail, saves him time and puts a stop to voicemail tag. As Glenn says: “Ribbit Mobile makes me so much more efficient.”

We launched two weeks ago, and I wanted to take a quick moment to say thank you for the kind words, and for your interest in Ribbit Mobile.  We’ve been hard at work on this service since I first joined the company back in 2007, and it’s great to see such a positive response.

The beta launch was covered by covered by 60+ media outlets, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Forbes.  And we’ve had requests from Australia, South Africa, and Canada asking us when we’re going to expand.

Here’s a customer story I really liked, thought I’d share it with you. It is from Nithin Rao, a long time Ribbit Mobile beta user who is throughly enjoying the voice to text transcription feature as it helps him keep the projects moving forward, even while 36,000 feet in the air:

While the beta has started well we have identified what needs more work.  We’re working hard to fix the Plaxo and CSV import issues.  And while the browser based calling voice quality has been good, we have a project underway to make it even better.  You’re going to love the results.

We continue to send invites out, and appreciate your patience as we work through the waiting list. We know it is never fun to wait.

Do let us know your ideas to improve the service.  You can post your ideas to the idea wall or contact us at support@ribbit.com.  If you want to reach me directly give me a call on my mobile. Thanks, we look forward to the advances ahead.

Use Ribbit, Save Money on Roaming Charges.

Paul F., a BT employee, just sent us a note that shows since he has begun using Ribbit Mobile, his roaming usage has dropped drastically, which in turn, keeps more money in his pocket…which is not a bad thing.

I have been using Ribbit Mobile since the invite came out, [and] my roaming usage has dropped by 75%. Last month my bill was $140 vs. an average of $900-1100, with high bills reaching $2,000 per month”.

That is awesome. Seriously. Hearing bits like this make us all giddy. Thanks Paul!
