Hop Across The Pond Contest: Day One Itinerary

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 | located in Contest | No Comments »

How does this sound to you?

Your bags are packed. They are loaded onto a plane. That plane carries you over the Atlantic Ocean. You arrive San Francisco. You check into a nice hotel. You have dinner and a relaxing nights sleep. You wake up, brush your teeth, put your shoes on and head into the Ribbit Headquarters, ready to start the first day of your California tour.

  • Upon arrival we give you a little coffee and some tasty eats as we show you around the office, introduce you to the team, and then give you an overview of what we have been doing to change the world of telephony (in a good way of course!).
  • Once you have learned everything you ever wanted to know about Ribbit, we jump in the car and head over to the Computer History Museum (’CHM’) in Mountain View, which is the world’s largest history museum for the preservation and presentation of artifacts and stories of the information age. The CHM explores the computing revolution and its impact on our lives. Whether you are the type to stand in line for an iPhone 3GS, or still type away on a Pentium II, all will enjoy this walk down Innovation Lane.
  • Doing all that walking around can work up an appetite, so we’ll head over to the Apple Cafeteria and fill ourselves up with another round of tasty treats on the beautiful Apple campus in Cupertino.
  • If you are interested in soaking in more tech goodness, we will take you over to the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose where you will experience an expansive variety of interactive exhibits and unique floor programs.  Of course, if you would prefer to take a nap, we can make sure that happens too. :)
  • After you take some time to freshen up, you will be our guest of honor at an exclusive cocktail party and dinner party with Ribbit folks and other luminaries from Silicon Valley. Hey, anyone have Steve Jobs’ phone number? Ha.
  • Then we drop you off safely at your hotel. You choose whether or not you sleep. You get ready to roll into day number two…

If you can see yourself as the ‘you’ in this scenario, make sure you have activated your Ribbit account and use the service for at least one week. You are automatically entered to win. Want to better your chances to win? Leave us a message

Ribbit Mobile: Do you know what you’re missing?

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009 | located in Beta | 1 Comment »

With over 6,000 BT employees now taking part in the BT/Ribbit Mobile trial, we’ve discovered that people often sign up out of curiosity… and end up being raving fans.

As an experiment, we asked Ribbit’s own Ray Lee to give up his Ribbit Mobile account.  Ray joined Ribbit from BT as the Director of Platform Business Development, and we thought he might be willing to give up his account. We were wrong. Ray didn’t want to be without Ribbit Mobile, not even for a single day.

To find out why, we sat down with Ray and captured his thoughts about Ribbit Mobile…

If you haven’t signed up yet - do you know what YOU’RE missing?

Use Ribbit, Save Money on Roaming Charges.

Paul F., a BT employee, just sent us a note that shows since he has begun using Ribbit Mobile, his roaming usage has dropped drastically, which in turn, keeps more money in his pocket…which is not a bad thing.

I have been using Ribbit Mobile since the invite came out, [and] my roaming usage has dropped by 75%. Last month my bill was $140 vs. an average of $900-1100, with high bills reaching $2,000 per month”.

That is awesome. Seriously. Hearing bits like this make us all giddy. Thanks Paul!
